Gratiot Medical Center is a 142-bed acute
care facility. Main facilities are located
in Alma. Clinics and specialty offices are
located throughout the Gratiot Community and
beyond. Over 95 active medical staff and
more than 1,000 employees provide the following

The Carson City Hospital is located just outside
the southwestern corner of Gratiot County and
has 77 licensed beds and a staff of 45 active
physicians, 39 consulting physicians, and 41
courtesy staff.
Clinic Services are provided at the Ashley
Family Care Center and the Ithaca Family Care
Center.

Recreational and Cultural Activities
|
|
Outdoor recreational opportunities are plentiful
for residents and visitors to Gratiot County.
Six challenging golf courses are located within
the county and dozens of other top quality
courses are located within a one hour drive.
Other recreational activities include
cross-country skiing, swimming, tennis, hunting,
fishing, hiking and more. Gratiot County
is located only two hours from Michigan's great
northern woods, which offer the unlimited
outdoor excitement of state and national parks
and forests. The beaches of Lake Huron and
Lake Michigan are also easily accessed within a 1
1/2 hour drive.
Cultural activities are abundant in this area. The Gratiot County Players offer entertaining amateur theater
for participants and patrons. In addition,
Alma College sponsors a diverse range of dance
performances, gifted speakers, and musical
recitals at its Remick Heritage Center for the
Performing Arts. The works of accomplished
painters, sculptors, and other artisans are
regularly displayed at exhibits in the Alma
College Clack Art Center. Also, The
Midland Center for the Performing Arts, Central
Michigan University, and Michigan State
University all sponsor a broad range of cultural
activities which range from a few minutes to a
one hour drive from Gratiot County.
