Happy New Year everyone. My name is Lisa Comer
and I am the Chairperson for the Alma Action
Association (AAA) for 2008. I own The Book Shoppe
in downtown Alma. I have been involved in the AAA
since purchasing my store in 1999.
I sincerely hope that everyone had a great

The Middle of the Mitten Association is looking
forward to an exciting 2008! We hope you all had a
nice holiday season and are anxious to get started
into the New Year. Mitten meetings will continue
to be held on the second Tuesday of every month at
12:15 p.m. in Council Chambers in St. Louis City
Hall and everyone is welcome to attend.
Many fun events are scheduled for St. Louis
this year with the first one being the second
annual Comedy Night, to be held on Saturday, March
1. Last year's event was a big success as over 200
people attended and we are looking for an even
larger turnout this year. Tickets will be very
affordable...

You may be skeptical about the title -- and I
don't blame you if you are. Clearly, we have all
seen the decline of manufacturing affecting our
family members and friends, with the news of plant
closings becoming all too familiar. I grew up in a
nearby town that recently lost its single largest
employer and taxpayer - I had aunts, uncles,
grandparents, and cousins who worked there, and
now the plant is almost...
