Alma Highland Festival is May 25-27, the weekend will
include: Hospitality Tent (We need volunteers!!! Call
463-5525), road run, craft show, pipe bands, highland
dance competition, parade, child identification booth,
and much more!
Rural Urban Day is July 12 (rain date July 13) 4 p.m.
- 8 p.m at Hidden Oaks Golf Course.

Working With Uncertainty

President
Working with uncertainty is a challenge for all
businesses. If only we had more perfect
information, we could make better or perfect
decisions. Unfortunately, we will never have
perfect information. We never know for sure what
is going to happen. Recent times have challenged
us with more uncertainty about what is likely to
happen. Will the State of Michigan balance their
budget? What will the replacement business tax
look like? Will the Great Lakes Energy Park be
given the green light? Will new regulations on
greenhouse gases affect how we do business? Will
the State find a way to properly fund county
government? The list seems endless. Dwelling on
the list makes it seem...

The 40th Annual Alma Highland Festival and
Games is just a month a way and the Festival
Committee is looking for volunteers to ensure
another successful weekend. If you are interested
in volunteering please call the Festival office at
463-8979, your efforts will be rewarded with a
free pass to the Festival activities.
The Alma Action Association (AAA) will again
hold its annual Scottish Meat Pie fund raiser.

Wow, can you believe it, we are already moving
into May. Ithaca has many upcoming events planned
for everyone to enjoy so please mark the following
dates on your calendars:
Flower Planting in Ithaca is May 19th.
We will be meeting at St. Pauls Catholic Church
Parking Lot at 9:00 a.m. Planting flowers is
definitely a group effort and we welcome as many
volunteers as possible. Businesses that would like
to volunteer can help by ...

Habitat for Humanity is gearing up for their
annual Bike and Walk-a-thon fund raiser. The event
will take place on June 2, 2007 at 8:30 a.m.

Wilcox Health Care Center community open house
June 6, 11a.m.-7p.m. on the south lawn. Event will
include Whispering Pine Animal Kingdom,
inflatables and dunking tanks.
Gratiot County Fair for Youth The
Annual Firecracker Open Golf Outing is on June 15
at North Star Golf Course. Lunch is from 11:30 to
12:30 pm, with a shotgun start at 1:00 pm, and a
steak dinner to follow golfing. Team registration
is $200.00 for four member teams and entry forms
can be downloaded at the fair website www.gcfffy.org.
Our Superkicker Rodeo Production will take
place July 7, 2007 at 6:00 pm at the Alma
Fairgrounds. A hospitality tent and live music,
provided my Milestone Band, will follow the rodeo
from 8-12 pm in the covered arena. Presale tickets
are available at the MSU Extension Office and
local sponsors for $8.00. Tickets are available at
the gate for $10.00. The fair dates are July
14-21, 2007. If you have any questions, please
